Trephina Gorge Ridge Top Walk and Chain of Ponds

The wind had a bite to it.

It had kicked up the night before after we’d set up camp at the Trephina Gorge camp site and sent us in retreat to our tents for an abnormally early night, but I guess the copious amounts of wine and cheese also contributed to this. Nevertheless, we were committed to our mission. There are a number of short day hikes available at Trephina Gorge. Infact, we’d done the 2km Trephina Gorge Walk the evening before to admire the scenery. Today we were going to do the Ridgetop Walk and half of the Chain of Ponds Walk. A total of close to 19km. I wasn’t feeling fear exactly, but I was nervous.

Bucket List: Exploring the Tegalalang Rice Terrace

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock lately you’ve no doubt seen the gorgeous photos of the Tegalalang Rice Terrace, either with people strolling the fields in flowing dresses or soaring over the fields on a Bali swing. I visited the rice terraces when I was in Ubud, and let me tell you there is more to this location than looking pretty. Namely there’s stairs. Lots and lots of muddy and slippery stairs.

Bucket List: Star Gazing

I was lucky enough to enjoy a the four day long weekend over Easter work free this year, and decided to try and make good use of the time off. I was supposed to go camping with friends, but our loose plans fell a part. What I had been looking forward to the most in camping over Easter was the chance to be outdoors, uninhibited by modern life. So when camping plans go out the window over a long weekend what do you do instead? You go star gazing.
